So Close No Matter How Far (July 21st)

This post is an answer to today’s writing prompt on the Dailypost blog :  Always something there to remind me.

It’s also a gift for my talented Beta Reader who had a terrible day and needed a cute story. I hope you’ll like it Lou because this one really made me struggle to fit in 100 words.

This story is a part of my summer writing challenge : writing a 100 word story everyday, the 13th installment.

She loved to escape grocery shopping and hum to the ambient soundtrack. Between Budweisers and diapers she almost felt complete again. No poop talk, no eat your vegetables pep talk.

Screeches braid out of the loudspeakers and the voice of Metallica’s lead singer  provoked a quake among the pickles jars.

This tune always reminded her wedding, her husband and their howling to the moon. Her heart wrapped itself in the warmth of her memories and cherished the feeling. Wherever Duncan was, she figured, he was thinking of her.
Then, someone offered her favorite caloric poison of choice and a kiss.
